How to extend a trip to china without buying another set of tickets? - china trip

The tickets were purchased through the use of AAdvantage points. Round trip with a stopover on the way to Chicago. I flew to China, and I'm going, but I want to extend my trip for a week. No problem with my passport / visa, so technically, you can stay a month if I wanted. Is it possible my stay without having to buy a new ticket to extend home?
